Glamorgan-based S&K; Haulage started trading in 1971 with a single truck that was bought and refurbished by the current Managing Director, Neil Kidby. Now, 44 years later, Neil and his 3 sons, David, James and Lloyd all take responsible roles within the business. The S&K; Group operate a fleet of over 115 tractor units, 350 trailers and provide warehousing, picking, packaging and transportation of goods and chemicals across the UK and Europe. And, incidentally, opened their first ATF in March this year. Originally, S&K; were looking to set up the testing lanes as an add-on to the business to save on fuel and on driver and vehicle down-time, not as a profitable concern in its own right. “I had an overall vision of what I wanted to achieve by getting the lanes put in” says Neil, “but I needed someone to supervise the project on a day-to-day basis.” Andy Chucas, S&K;’s Business Development Manager, meets this need. Andy is organised, efficient and rightly very proud of what they’ve achieved. Things have been going so well that S&K; are now looking at increasing their slot bookings by 100%.
