Group ginger is a practice of architects. Our name derives from the political term, a ginger group. Ginger groups work to identify alternative ideas. As such group ginger seeks to resist the status quo and normative behaviour to create participatory practices which challenge existing dominant expressions of architecture and heritage. We identify options and evaluate the benefits of each option over the other to identify the best and most appropriate solutions for our clients. Our aim is to change the perception of an area’s potential by responding to the needs and wellbeing of future occupants and to establish new community relevance. Our intention is to do things well, to tackle the difficult and create value by changing the perception of a place. We have worked for national practices over a number of years and have gained extensive project experience across many sectors, including retail, leisure, office, residential and culture. We use this experience when addressing problems but maintain our enthusiasm to explore fresh ideas to solving problems. Our interest extends beyond the provision of a full architects service and includes, brand development, interiors, furniture and designing temporary events. The office operates beyond the architectural object and explores the potential of creating social spaces, focused on place-making and experience.
