Following a career in the chemical industry Susan Green started with a field, managed to get planning permission and built a touring site that now comprises 25 super pitches and 15 tent pitches plus a warden’s pitch. The toilet shower block was built to a very high specification and, to this day, is likened to a 5* hotel. Our 'Mantra' is that the toilet/shower block should always look like it did on day 1. We have panoramic views with incredible sunsets. We are abundant in wildlife, we have little owls that nest here, curlews and swallows that return every year. Peregrine falcons and Buzzards are common, even a red kite has been photographed here. We are very rural yet central to all of the major towns of Bakewell, Buxton, Leek and Ashbourne, being 10 mile to each. There began a love affair with the land. In the last few years we have installed a biomass boiler that uses woodpellets. This provides heat and hot water for the whole site. We also have 100 field-mounted solar panels that supply about 50% of our electricity. We manage the 4.5 acre meadow to encourage wild flowers and we have a hedge management programme in place. All of this we do in with love and in recognition of the beauty of the land that provides for us. Animals are finding us. We have a resident Peacock, Benedict.
