Preston Aikido Club was established by Mr Mucha, founder of the Lancashire Aikikai and Ian Cherry ( 5th Dan Black Belt ), the Current Senior Instructor, in 1985 as part of the Lancashire Aikikai. At first the club met in the sports hall at Lancashire Polytechnic (now the University of Central Lancashire), but in the mid-90's it moved to its venue at Strettle's Martial Arts Centre on Fylde Road. In 2014 it relocated to a purpose built Sakura Dojo at 26 Winckley Square in the heart of Preston Town Centre .
