Lewisham Youth Theatre (LYT) creates high quality, innovative theatre projects with and for young people that enable them to reach their creative and personal potential. We believe that participation in theatre leads to the development and empowerment of young people. We commit to ensuring that this opportunity is available to all young people in Lewisham and that no-one should be excluded because of economic or social background. Since 1987, LYT has grown from a membership of 20 young people to working with over 1500 young people each year. In 2002 we began a residency at the Broadway Theatre, Catford. We have created a thriving centre where young people participate in theatre at every level through three youth theatres, drama workshops in the community, education outreach and storytelling initiatives. Run by professional theatre practitioners, we have a reputation for producing challenging and innovative work to a professional standard.
