As a clinical commissioning group (CCG) we are responsible for commissioning or “buying” healthcare for the people of West Cheshire: that is, making sure that we use our budget of around £300 million to ensure the best possible healthcare for our population. NHS West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group is made up of thirty-seven GP practices that will, from April 2013, be wholly responsible for designing local health services. We cover a population of around 253,000 patients who are registered with our 37 GP member practices as well as people who live within the area we cover, but are not registered with a GP practice; and people who present in our geographic area needing emergency care.
