Alternative Eden follows the story of our garden, as we create a taste of the tropics in the UK. Our philosophy is to create an exotic effect using mostly hardy plants with some more tender accent plants in pots. We love to travel, both in the United Kingdom and further afield, and on our travels we usually manage to visit various interesting gardens around the world, which we enjoy sharing the photographs from our trips. As well as visiting public gardens we also visit numerous private gardens and nurseries, some of which will feature on this gardening blog. Our current garden was started in 2005 after we moved home, a move partly to obtain a larger garden, and has been in development ever since. Gardens are never finished, and Alternative Eden will follow the developments as our garden evolves and matures over the years ahead.
