Steeped in a rich history, this former slipper bath was closed down by Nottingham City Council in 2004. Since then, with the generous and unwavering support of the Lenton community, it has emerged to provide local people with a number of different services on a daily basis. After buying the building in 2005 for only £10, The Lenton Centre (TLC) has successfully restored this historic building and it now boasts a wide variety of modern facilities, overseen by a friendly, enthusiastic and passionate staff. Situated less than a mile away from the University of Nottingham, TLC provides an invaluable service for students; not only does TLC offer a welcoming and inexpensive gym and swimming pool membership, but it allows students a chance to mingle with members of the wider community. From within TLC, a number of organisations provide a range of fantastic services which benefit the community, including: Quackers A swim school providing lessons for children of all ages Ridewise A charity dedicated to making cycling a safe, fun and healthy form of everyday transport. Activ2 A day centre organised by The West Area Project (WAP), providing the perfect opportunity for those with learning disabilities to try a wide range of exercises, activities and games, and to receive information on how to remain active and eat well.
