Ogólne informacje
The Gurkha Durbar, established in 2005 , is a firm favourite not only with the community of Grayshott in Hampshire but from customers further like Haslemere, Guildford & Portsmouth The restaurant's loyal following can be attributed to some exceptional Nepalese cuisine and a wonderfully friendly welcome. The restaurant is owned by Major Mani Kumar Rai, MBE,(now retired) of the Royal Gurkha Rifles, and his wife Sudha. Both hosts are an integral part of the Grayshott community, seem to know absolutely everyone and succeed in making their guests feel very at home. The restaurant here is simply decorated, airy and open, leaving the service and the food to shine. Nepalese cuisine is influenced by the country's geographic position, sandwiched between China and India. Whilst the menu at The Gurkha Durbar isn't as easy to navigate as your usual Chinese or Indian restaurant menu, diners are sure to be rewarded by finding something new and interesting to waken up their tastebuds. Traditional momo (Nepalese dumplings) are a highlight of the starter menu while Gurkha Khasi, lamb cooked in the clay oven and served with Himalayan herbs or Kathmandu Kukhura, a tandoori chicken dish, make for exciting main courses. There is a huge selection of seafood, chicken, lamb and vegetarian dishes on the menu. All are home-made in style and cooked fresh to order. Gurkha beer will wash it all down nicely while a shot of Nepalese rum will act as a lovely, warming digestif. The Gurkha Durbar is open...
