Established in 1992 by Charles Lear and Gary Lawrence who formed Cheltenham’s leading and longest established independent estate agency. Charles Lear originally started working for his late father in the well known family firm of Lear & Lear, whilst still at Cheltenham College. He became a partner in the late 1970s, helping to create a market leading independent company and has successfully used this knowledge to enhance the well established and respected name of ‘Lear’ within the property sector. Prior to forming the partnership with Charles, Gary Lawrence was employed as a Chartered Surveyor by a respected national company and was involved with commercial agency throughout the Midlands and Southwest. As a qualified RICS Register Valuer, Gary carries out the professional valuations, and regularly acts as an expert witness. His experience and local knowledge is an invaluable tool in the running of Charles Lear & Co. Charles and Gary are well supported by associates and property valuers, Vanessa Athorn and Tom Hatcher, who with extensive local knowledge and experience of working in both buoyant and testing markets carry out market appraisals and offer excellent customer service to sellers and buyers alike. The office administrator, Samantha Smith supports the entire team in the day-to-day running of the office, herself having in excess of 20 years experience within the property market.
