Founded by Yehudi Menuhin in 1983, the Menuhin Competition is world's leading competition for young violinists under the age of 22. Previous prizewinners include: Tasmin Little, Isabelle van Keulen, Nikolaj Znaider, Ilya Gringolts, Julia Fischer, Daishin Kashimoto, Feng Ning, Ray Chen, Chad Hoopes and Callum Smart. It is held in a different world-city every two years. In 2016 the event returned to London from 7-17 April to celebrate the centenary of Yehudi Menuhin's birthday, held in association with the Royal Academy of Music, Southbank Centre, Philharmonia Orchestra, The Yehudi Menuhin School and Classic FM.
