The human gastrointestinal tract can be divided in to an upper part that consists of the oesophagus (food-pipe or gullet) and stomach, and a lower part that consists of the large bowel. Upper Gastrointestinal operations are of three types: 1) Operations for Weight Loss, called Bariatric Surgery.
