The Cathedral Archer Project (CAP) is a day centre that helps people who are homeless A place we call home is an essential part of life which means much more than shelter and safety. Homelessness can include sleeping rough as well as using occasional hostel spaces, camping on friends’ floors and sofas, and squatting. Our vision is to help homeless people create homes and lives enriched by its space, content and the sense of belonging it brings. A place of safety, warmth and support CAP is a place where people feel welcomed and that people make their own. Clients include alcohol and substance dependents, street workers, people with learning difficulties and disabilities, refugees and asylum seekers from a variety of backgrounds and ages. They are supported by a team of dedicated project workers and given access to food, showers, medical support and much more. “The thing about this place is they don’t offer you help with A, B or C. They just offer help” A place where lives are changed We work with clients on an individual basis to encourage their self-esteem and motivation to help them take steps towards stability. Activities in the project give clients the chance to explore new hobbies and gain a greater sense of self-awareness and achievement. Educational activities help clients learn new skills and work towards volunteer roles.
