Since its foundation in 1933, Aequator sold low pressure brewing systems into restaurants up to the fifties. When Alfred Meyer acquired the coffee machine division from the Arbonia company in 1960, the high pressure brewing system - better known as espresso system - came from Italy and became fashionable. The new procedure made stronger and better tasting coffee which was highly appreciated and demanded, mainly in Switzerland. As from 1970, Aequator not only prduced manual piston machines but also the first fully automatic espresso machines. It took nearly two decades to develop high quality and stable fully automatic coffee machines that fully satisfied our customers. When Manfred Meyer succeeded his father in 1992 he started to export the machines. Bigger numbers had to be produced to cover the substantial development costs, and these numbers could not be reached in Switzerland alone. With the participation in 2008 by Arnaud van Amerongen from The Netherlands into the share capital of Aequator AG, export has become an even stronger focus. Today, a fully automatic coffee machine must include milk to produce trendy coffee specialities. Hygiene is of prime importance with milk. All fully automatic Aequator coffee machines take this into account. Aequator, with innovative ideas and developments is an interesting market player, motivating competition.
