Tracing its roots back to 1548, Bradford Grammar School, Yorkshire, is one of the UK’s leading independent schools, providing an ‘outstanding education’ (ISI 2012) for more than 1,100 girls and boys aged six to 18. Pupils from diverse backgrounds are happy, valued and encouraged to flourish in an academic environment designed to inspire them to reach their full potential and equip them for life in a global society. With strong public examination results - in 2015 the School’s 131 A Level students celebrated success, with 50% of all exams awarded A*/A grades – compared with 25.9% nationally and 73% of GCSE Grades at A*/A - entry into Russell Group universities is high, including acceptance into medical, dentistry and veterinary schools. A broad curriculum, which includes Latin, Russian and Electronics, is supported by excellent pastoral care. Extensive facilities including workshops, laboratories, a 25m swimming pool, sports’ pavilion, all weather sports’ pitch, squash and tennis courts, recording studio, music auditorium, state of the art library and the Hockney Theatre. Pupils can choose from over 50 clubs and societies, from rowing and orienteering, to war games, debating and chess. Former pupils include artist David Hockney, Olympic champions Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, actress Georgie Henley, and Sir Ken Morrison CBE, Executive Chairman of Morrisons Supermarkets.
