The safe and friendly place for adults and children to learn traditional karate in the Otley area. Why not try karate, give it ago and your first class is free!! For self-defence, fitness and fun! Male and Female Karate Instructors Karate means “empty hand” and its origins can be traced back to China, though the island of Okinawa is often regarded as its birthplace. As a sport karate can help to develop strength, fitness , flexibility and spirit whilst at the same time increasing confidence and an awareness of self-defence. The style of karate practiced by our club is Shukokai, which means “the way for all”, and was introduced to England in 1968 by Japanese Senseis Tani and Kimura. Though sadly, both Senseis are now no longer with us, their legacy remains as strong as ever, with Shukokai continuing to be well recognised and regarded. As a new member, you become part of the Zetsurin family and as such will be supported by your Senseis and fellow students as you embark on your karate journey. We look forward to travelling with you!
