Harvest Books & Crafts was set up in 1984 by a group of Christians from different Churches in the valleys town of Pontypridd, South Wales. One early ambitious project was to purchase a property in the centre of the town which could be used for counselling and reaching out to the community and which could also house a bookshop. Because of the overwhelming emphasis in the Bible for caring for the poor, the shop also sold Fairly traded crafts from Tearfund, the Christian Development agency and more recently Fairly traded foods.
