The National Coal Mining Museum for England is a unique collection of buildings, displays and galleries which reveal the hidden world of mining through the centuries. Book onto our undeground tours where you'll be given a miner's hard hat and lamp and descend 140m below the surface. Follow your ex-miner guide on a unique underground adventure and find out how coal was mined and moved to the surface by men, women, children, ponies and machinery. Afterwards, why not visit the nature trails around the site and meet our pit ponies, Eric & Ernie, or visit our new exhibition on Nationalisation?
