Abigail Housing Informacje o firmie
Ogólne informacje
Refugee Project: We currently have 50-60 bed spaces in Leeds where we house Refugees who have just been given the right to stay in the UK. Our support consitis of a room in a house and support in applying for the relevant benefits, applying for work or college courses and general emotional and practical support to help individuals integrate better into communities in Leeds. We have many social work students on placement with us throughout the year, who play a huge role in supporting our residents. Our lead worker and founder John Hebden is in constant conversation with Landlords to find new, appropriate properties as well as ensuring the charity will survive within the welfare changes. Asylum Seeker Project: We currently have 15 bed spaces in Bradford for refused asylum seekers who have been refused the right to stay in the UK but have not been sent back to their country of origin. Many of them have been refused asylum due to a lack of support/ understanding/ evidence. We allow these individuals time, security and safety to be able to gather the evidence they need to submit fresh claims to the Home Office. Many of our residents have mental health issues and are marginalised when they come to us. We therefore also aim to improve their lives holistically by working together with the many other organisations in Bradford.
