Our Scout Group is made up of a Beaver Scout Colony (aged 6 to 8), 2 Cub Scout Packs (aged 8 to 10½), a Scout Troop (aged 10½ to 14) and Leaders/ Assistant Leaders (aged 18 to 65). The Scout Group is managed through a Group Executive Committee, made up of a Group Chairman, Group Secretary, Group Treasurer, Leaders, parent representatives and friends of the group. Meeting place – Scout Hut at the rear of The Parish Church Hall on Front Street, Acomb, York, YO24 3BZ Weekly Subscription: £3.00 for every meeting, attended or not. Meeting nights – Beavers Thursday 6-7.15pm Cubs Monday 6.30-8.30pm Cubs Wednesday 6.30-8.15pm (8.30pm in summer) Scouts Friday 7-9pm So what are we trying to do? The aim of the Scout Association is to encourage the physical, mental, and spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive part in society. Scouting tries to achieve its aim by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training based upon the Scout Law and Promise. In the UK, Scouting is a multi-cultural and multi-faith organisation, providing activities and training, guided by adult leadership.
